Rhythm and Blues Guitar (Guitar Educational) [Paperback] Review

Rhythm and Blues Guitar [Paperback]I love Cornell Dupree's playing. He is one of my favorite rythym guitar players. I've been a professional musician for 35 years now and I've seen him many playing in all kinds of musical settings playing many different styles of music. No matter what he does he always remains himself. He's on some of my favorite disc's. Aretha Franklin, Donny Hathaway, Freddie King, Stuff, King Curtis, Paul Simon, and countless more funk, R&B and pop sessions. (Look up his catalog if you get the chance. It's amazing.
Though there is a lot here to learn from the lessons and it's all practical, useful real world stuff for me it didn't cover enough ground. As an intro it's good but he is such a sophisticated player it just left out too much.

The way he voices chords. The way he riffs between chords. These are all huge parts of his style and here it only scatches the surface.
Don't get me wrong. There are many beautiful things to learn here but I hoped for something that would dig deeper.
Go out and buy it despite my review. He is an original and whatever you get from this book will be worth your time.
