The Blues Bass Handbook (Guitar Educational) [Paperback] Review

The Blues Bass Handbook [Paperback]I bought this book for a blues fan friend of mine who is moving to blues bass. Unfortunately, I now have to buy another book because this one stinks. I teach drums, play guitar, and dislike this book.

Problem #1: The book doesn't actually have many bass lines in it. In fact, it is mostly a rehash of the same line on the first page. The blues bass is so much more than one line repeated over and over for "rhumba", "shuffle", and "slow blues" songs.

Problem #2: If you're a beginner, you will learn more by just listening to an Albert King or Muddy Waters record. And if you know that your strings are E-A-D-G (intermediate), then you won't get much from this book at all.

Problem #3: Words and tabs per page? Well, if you can recall those days in 5th grade when you triple spaced your reports and repeated the same sentence forty times, then you understand the format of this book.

I don't want to be too harsh, but, I just wasted my hard earned $$$.
-------------------
Bottom line: DO buy a blues bass book (I would like to jam with you someday), just DON'T BUY THIS blues bass book.
